A lot of materials published on the web is topical, and comment upon natural persons that are in the public light due to some recent events.
Months, or years later these people are no longer in the news, and they should disappear, just like people that is identified in a paper newspaper disappears from the public light when the newspaper is no longer on the newsstand, but used for wrapping fish & chips.
This PET lets the user impose a sunset date on personal data. When a preset time limit is reached, personal data is automatically replaced with a generic synonym. E.g., the data subject’s given name (“John Doe”) is replaced with a generic term (“42 year old man”).
